Snow - day three

The snow started on Tuesday evening and it snowed for most of yesterday. This is the scene outside our house this morning. The road contains tracks of solid ice where some brave drivers have departed. The pavements are covered in deep, crispy snow, not yet too compacted as most people are not venturing out. According to the BBC, early this morning, the temperature in this area was -7c. Son 1's college is shut. Son 2's school, in another borough, is open but our council are running no transport for safety reasons.

We are huddling at home, trying to keep warm and hoping the Tesco delivery driver will be able to reach us tomorrow. I'm off to finish the food order now!

I keep thinking about ordering from Asda but doubt they will deliver. The farmer keeps going to our local co-op which is 7 miles away but as we have a Land Rover it's not bad for driving. However, the schools being closed is becoming a pain in the bottom!!

It's 36c here today and we're heading for 41c by Monday. (ducks flying fruit) I'd send you ten degrees if I could.
Seriously though, it looks terrible. Hope there's a thaw soon. At least enough to let stir crazy children out and groceries in.

Well we got the groceries delivered.

Andrea, I would say I'd love to swap weather with you, but although the cold is giving me wobbly legs I think your heat would make my MS symptoms even worse!

Oh i hope it dosnt last much longer. C is finding it very difficult to cope with going out. But gets frustrated if we stay in too long!
Stay warm. Happy new year!

Happy New Year to you too, Casdok! Son 2 hasn't wanted to go out at all, the most he does is run into the garden pick up a handful of snow and bring it indoors.

I used to love snow when I was a kid. Absolutely hate it now. Sign of growing old? I now prefer to stay indoors and go to virtual parties instead like Nicola's blog-birthday party. Nice to meet you.

Lovely to meet you too, Jean. I'm exactly the same, I think you're right about it being a sign of age!

No snow where I am. It's almost like summer just now. I'm here from Nicola's birthday party. I was very interested in your blog and would like to invite you to mine, which highlights a mental disorder that's hardly known, despite being very common.

I've popped across from Nicola Morgan's blog birthday bash.

This is just what it's like where we are - even down to ordering from Tesco! We were lucky, our driver got through on Wednesday even though the snow was thick. I'm hoping he'll make it again this week.

Our washing machine is broken so I may have to take the car out in this to get to the launderette. Oh noes!

Miriam, welcome. Your blog looks fascinating and I shall return shortly to read more. I'm actually very interested in anxiety/mental health issues as one of my sons has been a sufferer.

Fairyhedgehog, welcome too. I hope you get that washing machine sorted soon. Couldn't be without mine, or my dryer!

Another of Nicola Morgan's revellers here!

I can't say the snow's been half as bad where I live, but we did have the two halves of my workplace cut off by an expanse of ice for several days last week. On Friday afternoon the top brass decided they were going to close on Monday and give us a proper snow day (no matter what havoc that played with clients' deadlines), so needless to say not a drop of frozen slippy stuff has fallen ever since.....
