In the worst possible taste...

Call me old and boring if you like, I think I must be one of the few people in the world who doesn't 'get' Russell Brand. And Jonathan Ross' interview techniques can sometimes leave me cringing too, especially when he can't take his eyes off a female guest's cleavage.

The BBC pays these two men a lot of money, by anyone's standards. But their latest stunt was just sick. I'm not sure an apology is enough, learning some self control would be better.

Three notable things:

1. A recent disagreement on an internet forum has left me wondering yet again why some people can not and do not want to understand the challenging behaviours that can arise in people with learning disabilities but no obvious physical disabilities. Challenging behaviour can restrict lives just as much, if not more so, than being wheelchair bound.

2. The sun is shining. Hooray!

3. I've still got that pesky commentary to write...

Well, I'm old and boring too then. I think I have been all my life!

Ross and Brand ought to be sacked in my view. They are a disgrace.

Ignorance is a constant battle where hidden disabilities are concerned. Until having Amy, I never realised just how much.

Old and boring, three. I like a laugh. I have quite a warped sense of humour (so I'm told), but that was obnoxious.

Ah, I'm so glad to see it is not just me ( and the 5000 or so who made formal complaints...)

I didn't find Russell Brand funny apart from when he did the quiz of the year - that was amusing - but other than that I don't get him at all. Jonathan Ross I've never really liked at all, he's a sexist moron.

I'd sack them. Along with the even more reprehensible person who signed off that item as OK to broadcast.

And to be honest, the messages are bad - really bad - but joking about driving someone to suicide? Despicable. Sick and despicable.

I totally agree about Ross and Brand - not acceptable at all. And how it managed to be broadcast when it wasn't live I can't imagine. Good to see the Trust are taking it extremely seriously though.

Agreed. I find Ross's 'humour' laboured and dull at the best of times. This latest stunt was dim wittedly spiteful. They should both be put out to grass.

And have a restricted life because of my sons challenging behaviour. I dont think anyone can really understand what CB can do to not only the person but to the whole family until you live with it.

Hi

I'm so not a fan of Ross and Brand I've been deliberately staying clear of them, so have not heard the actual clip but I agree if it was out of order the BBC should go down heavily on them and prove to Ross and Brand they're not the infallible media gods they think they are.

As for hidden disabilities I totally agree, Boy Lacer is currently refusing to go into public toilets (he gets hysterically scared of hand driers and now refuses to go through the door thinking hand driers are in every public toilet, I got some weird looks yesterday changing him outside the toilet door) which is an accessibility problem as much as any other accessibility problem.

Me too, Cathy. I've put my fourpence worth on my blog too.

Well Brand has resigned and Ross is suspended, hopefully heads will also roll amongst the producers who let them make the calls in the first place and worse still let the broadcast go out later.

In the meantime of course Jonathan Ross has a new book just out and Andrew Sachs' granddaughter has employed Max Clifford. Andrew Sachs himself is the only person to come out of this with any dignity.
