It seems I may have been unwittingly topical yesterday. Thank you, stay at home dad for leaving this comment last night:
'Strangely, I picked up the ES this evening and it seems Jones is currently divorcing Dhaliwal and he's been chucked out of the marital house.'
This can only be a Good Thing. If you don't know why, read her view of marriage, together with his view of male/female relationships and the view of a (cynical?) outsider.
I suspect any divorce will spawn endless columns which I will yet again be sucked in to reading (because actually Liz Jones can write well) and no doubt another book deal for one or both.

Goodness, how amazing. I had no idea about this, though I've occasionally read Nirpal Dhaliwal's column in the Standard. Having read Liz Jones's diary, I can't help wondering why it lasted this long. How can any relationship survive being described in the papers like this?
jackie, this is the question all of us who share our intimate personal lives in our writings have to wrestle with. One just has to think, well, one relationship may end as a result but soon a new relationship with a ferrari will take it's place, it's just the natural cycle of things...
But I'd only meet the Ferrari if I got a book deal Rilly...or maybe a job with the Mail?!
Post divorce, I did once have a date with a man with a red Ferrai. Sadly the car was the more impressive of the two so I didn't get to ride in it. Perhaps that's the point of a red Ferrari?
Whatever you may think abour Liz Jones, she is pretty compulsive reading and she certainly doesn't hold anything back.
Yes she is compulsive reading...I'd probably stop buying the Mail on Sunday if that column went. But sometimes I just long to tell her to get real!
Liz Jones does write well, you're right.
It will be interesting seeing what she writes THIS w/end.
I've sometimes wondered, in an idle Sunday morning moment, whether I should invite the pernickety Liz to stay a while chez Beta Mum.
It'd soon cure her of her door-handle-cleaning disorder.
Either that or she'd be so busy wiping door handles with disinfectant that we wouldn't notice she was there.
Beta mum, when she has finished with your door handles, could you send her over to clean my fridge, please?
I like Nirpal Dhaliwal's Standard column & even bought his novel. Mistake. His latest on the split was good though, about moving to a trashy flat in Shoreditch & getting covered in dog poo.
I looked at Nirpal Dhaliwal's novel in Waterstones and quickly put it back on the shelf! I haven't read much of his journalism, as I rarely get the Standard, but he always seems highly opinionated. Would love to have read about the dog poo though...
